Andrew M. Beato's practice concentrates on antitrust and trade regulation, including advertising, Internet, and privacy laws. He graduated summa cum laude with distinction from Boston University in May 1991. In May 1994, Mr. Beato earned his J.D. from American University, The Washington College of Law, where he was a staff editor of The American University Journal of International Law and Policy.

Mr. Beato is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Antitrust Section), Maryland State Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar Association.

Mr. Beato's practice areas include antitrust and trade regulation, trade association law, consumer protection, and civil litigation. He has:

  • Successfully defended a private antitrust suit alleging a group boycott by pharmacy chains accused of conspiring to block a prescription benefits plan for employees of the State of Maryland. Merck-Medco Managed Care, Inc. v. Rite Aid, et al., Civ. Action No. L96-499 (D. Md).
  • Represented a national television retailer in proceedings before the Federal Trade Commission.
  • Represented businesses in investigations by the Federal Trade Commission and state consumer protection agencies.
  • Represented trade associations of credit and collection professionals and automotive aftermarket warehouse distributors.
  • Reviewed print and electronic advertising for compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Advised businesses with respect to compliance obligations under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.
